SAP (Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing) was started in 1972 by five entrepreneurs – Dietmar Hopp, Hasso Plattner (Plattner), Hans-Werner Hector, Klaus Tschira, and Claus Wellenreuther – in Germany with the vision of creating a standard application software for real-time business processing.
